How did you two meet/love story?

We disagree on our first meeting date, but we both best remember the first time we felt a spark. We were at the New York Natural History Museum for a concert one night in the planetarium room, and spotted each other from across the room, having met briefly before. Charlotte was encouraged by her best friend to approach Sean and walked up to ask for an escort to see the stars. They spent what must have only been an hour talking and then went their separate ways that night. They didn’t officially date until months later but that night helped kick off their relationship.

Why did you choose the venue you did?

We loved the Basilica as soon as we saw it. It’s so industrial and gritty looking with beautiful textured brick walls and big glass windows. We also really loved that it is a non-profit arts center and that we could support the center and also be in a place that celebrates art. Finally we thought Hudson was an interesting and cute town, surrounded by beautiful upstate New York countryside.

Your details? Why did you choose them, what was your thought process?We loved that our venue was an arts center so wanted to incorporate art as much as possible into the day. We painted watercolor name place-cards, and made flower crowns for guests, as well as paper crane decorations. We wanted the party to feel artsy and whimsical, while incorporating the Hudson Valley as much as we could. Our flowers are a mix of fun artistic pieces like our ceremony flower wall, and wildflower arrangements placed throughout the venue. Our photobooth has a crazy wild flower backdrop that we thought would be fun and artsy.

Any advice for other couples getting married?!

You are ultimately in charge of how stress affects you, so if you don’t want it to then learn to let things go. It’s a lot to organize and make decisions for a wedding, but try and look at those times as things you are lucky to do rather than something stressful you have to complete. Have fun with it!
